Insprired by Björks Reactable instrument we thought about how much common digital instruments lack the performance part. A person behind a laptop is not really stimulating an "musical act". The TUIO Group thankfully released their toolchain as Open Source Software and there are processing libraries available so we gave it a try. We didn't know too much about projection mapping and image recognition 2007 was limited to pretty much to openCV.

Interesting for us was how only by working on the prototype we suddenly realized the collaborative aspect of such a tool, which is not available with other interfaces that we know of. A table is by nature open for many people to aproach and the interface allows collaborative jamming on one device. Making digital music is again a group activity.
